This piece was inspired by the beauty of mold. Each piece of bread is based off of a different type of mold that grows on bread. I recreated the mold using thread, embroidery floss, and textured fabrics. The fabric base was hand dyed by myself as well as the fabric used for the crust. Originally it was displayed in the cafeteria in the Tyler School of Art building. From afar, the piece appears to be actual moldy bread, but then upon inspection it transforms into something beautiful. Mold may not be the most preferred thing for one to find on their food, but when looked at with the right mindset, it can appear to be very beautiful.
