George & Sergio were both people I met while living in Rome for four months. Sergio owned a bar near where I lived and I would get my breakfast there every morning before class. George owned a small metal shop in Testaccio, Rome. While living in Rome I had been unable to use metal working processes and I sometimes would spend time with George as he created things in his shop. I photographed them and then used pastels on a shear linen to create their portraits. They were installed in my studio. Included is a photo of smaller portraits I had done at the same time of other people I encountered on my trip.
